LONGVIEW — The Rainier Oregon Historical Museum plans to hold a groundbreaking ceremony May 6 in the organization’s new space near Rainier City Park.
People can park at the nearby Rainier Senior Center or the marina for the groundbreaking event that kicks off 1:30 p.m. at 700 West A St., according to a press release from Rainier Oregon Historical Museum Board President Kay Heflin.
Afterward, people can go to the senior center for refreshments and to view historic photos of the city.
The museum has been housed in a 900-square-foot space inside City Hall with little room for displays. The new site will include a building dedicated just for the museum with a research center and library, multipurpose meeting room, lobby entrance with gift shop, and a much larger exhibit space, Heflin writes in the news release.
