Letter: Trump supports madness at border

I’d like to respond to Bill Fickett, who outlined the legal steps to receive asylum in the United States (“Asylum system is a threat,” Our Readers’ Views, April 20).

He states that President Joe Biden ties up cases in the court system, implying that Biden wants illegal immigration to go unchecked. Lastly, he states: “This crisis at our borders is a huge deal. We need to vote out of office anyone that supports this madness.”

So then, Bill, I’ll assume you have no intention of voting for Donald Trump this November, considering there was a bipartisan bill that Biden supported (making your claim about him “tying up cases in the court system” dubious at best) that was not passed in the Senate almost entirely because Trump had his toadies in that chamber vote “no” so he could continue to try to stoke fears of immigrants and use the issue as a weapon against Biden in the upcoming election.

By getting his minions to kill the bill in the Senate, Trump is tacitly supporting the “madness” at the border. I sincerely hope you are a man of your word and do not vote for someone who would do so.
