LONGVIEW — The Washington State Department of Transportation is warning of scammers claiming to be collecting past-due bills on its behalf.
According to an email from WSDOT, these scammers claim to be working on behalf of Good To Go!, the state’s system for collecting road tolls. Both people who have and have not used the system reported they have received emails and text messages, claiming that the customers owe money to the state and providing links to pay.
WSDOT states that under no circumstances will customers be asked to pay through a portal other than the official program website, MyGoodToGo.com. Personal information used in the program is legally required to be kept confidential.
The FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center is investigating similar complains throughout the United States. Anyone who received a fraudulent email can file a complaint with the IC3 at www.ic3.gov.
