The Hudson’s Bay boys soccer team helped tighten the race for the last two district playoff berths in the 2A Greater St. Helens League with a 3-1 win over Hockinson on Thursday.

Angel Villalobos scored two goals and assisted on the Eagles’ third scored by Christian Leonzo.

Alonzo Flores had the goal for Hockinson with an assist to Grant Cayton.

Ridgefield, Hockinson and Hudson’s Bay are separated by four points for third and fourth in the standings with four teams advancing to the district playoffs.

The regular season closes after games on Saturday and Tuesday, but those three teams will not face each other thus needing a win and help to keep their season alive beyond Tuesday.

Columbia River and R.A. Long have clinched the top two playoff berths with only seeding still to be determined.

Stars of the day

  • Ian Johnson, La Center boys soccer, scored three goals and assisted on two others in the Wildcats’ 7-2 win over Stevenson.
