BATTLE GROUND — The Battle Ground City Council appointed Kristina Swanson as the interim city manager effective Monday.

She was appointed April 15, the same day Erin Erdman, the former city manager, announced her resignation. Erdman accepted a position as city manager of Kennewick, according to a news release.

Swanson has 33 years of public service experience, including being elected to five terms as county auditor for Cowlitz County, according to the news release. She previously worked for the city of Longview as director of administrative services and, eventually, city manager.

She will serve as interim city manager until a permanent city manager is selected. The city council has hired an executive recruitment firm called Prothman to conduct a nationwide search to fill the position. The application period is open.

The city manager is appointed by the city council. The first review is scheduled to occur after May 26, according to the news release.
