A four-run fourth-inning rally and stellar pitching from Hayden Blanford and Landon Rayner led the Evergreen baseball team to a 4-0 win Monday over Kelso, sending the top-ranked Hilanders to their first defeat of the season.
The win, which was the 11th straight for the Plainsmen, kept Evergreen in the hunt for the 3A Greater St. Helens League title. Evergreen meets Kelso again Tuesday in Kelso, and then the two teams complete their series Thursday back in Evergreen.
Kelso needs to win one of the next two to secure the 3A GSHL title.
In the fourth inning, singles by J Marin and S Heys plus a walk to K Cook loaded the bases for Evergreen. Cade Livingston, the No. 9 hitter, put Evergreen on the board with a sacrifice fly.
Rayner follwed with an infield single to score Heys. Cook then scored on a wild pitch before Ryno Oldham Catabay capped the rally with an RBI single.
Blanford held Kelso to one hit over 3.1 innings. Rayner finished off the win with 3.2 shutout innings, allowing four hits.
Camas wins 7th straight Titan Cup
Camas captured its seventh straight Titan Cup girls golf tournament, beating Skyview 4-2 in championship singles Monday at Camas Meadows.
Lauryn Curley won her championship singles match 3 & 2 over Charlotte Baker. Isla Luchero, Chloe Wu and Lily Kim made quicker work of their matches, winning 5 & 3, 5 & 3 and 5 & 4, respectively.
Camas reached the championship round by beating Union 3-0 in alternate-shot play Monday morning. Skyview edged Battle Ground 2-1 with Baker and Nola Buffard earning a 2 & 1 win to tip the balance.
Battle Ground beat Union 3.5-2.5 to claim third place.

Andrew Miller, Camas baseball, threw a five-hit shutout with six strikeouts and no walks in a 6-0 win over Skyview that caused a three-way tie for first place in the 4A Greater St. Helens League between the Papermaker, Storm and Battle Ground.
James Gill II and Gavin Blanton, Battle Ground baseball, both went 3 for 4 and Gill added three RBI in an 8-5 win over Union.
Jacob Bellamy, Washougal baseball, allowed two hits over five innings and struck out nine in a 5-1 win over Hudson’s Bay. He also went 3 for 4 at the plate.
Jared Gottsch, Ridgefield baseball, went 3 for 4 with a home run, two runs scored and three RBI in a 7-4 win over Hockinson in nine innings.
Michael Rovig, Prairie baseball, pitched a four-hit shutout with seven strikeouts and one walk in a 10-0 win over Heritage.
Jared Childers, R.A. Long baseball, went 3 for 4 with two runs, a triple and RBI in a 12-2 win over Woodland.
Drew Schlangan, Kalama baseball, went 4 for 8 with five runs, three doubles and three RBI in a doubleheader sweep of Morton-White Pass.Renee Waddle, Columbia River softball, went 2 for 3 with two runs, triple, home run and RBI in a 14-2 win over Washougal.
Maddie Milhorn, Skyview softball, went 1 for 2 with a double and 3 RBI in a 10-4 win over Heritage.
Addysen Case, Skyview softball, went 1 for 1 with double and two RBI for Storm.
Diego Bejar and Robert Chavarria, Evergreen boys soccer, each had one goal and one assists in a 4-2 win over Skyview.
