The Washington State Department of Health suspended certified nursing assistant David Floyd Potter’s license following allegations of sexual misconduct involving two patients.

Potter, a Lewis County resident, worked at the Vancouver campus of the Portland Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

According to the Department of Health’s statement of charges, in a September 2022 incident, Potter focused on rubbing a patient’s chest rather than where cleansing was medically needed and ignored the patient’s request to stop.

In April 2023, Potter engaged in an inappropriate sexual relationship with another patient, according to the statement. Potter was fired on April 26, 2023.

Potter cannot practice in Washington until the charges are resolved. He has 20 days to respond to the charges and to ask for a hearing.
