Vancouver man killed in crash on Highway 14 in Skamania County

A Vancouver man died in a crash on Highway 14 in Skamania County late Thursday evening.

According to a crash memo from the Washington State Patrol. Zane A. Ruby, 31, was killed in the crash about 30 miles east of Vancouver, west of Kidney Lake.

About 11:15 p.m., Ruby was westbound on Highway 14 in a 2006 Nissan Murano when the vehicle left the road and struck a tree. The Nissan came to rest on the eastbound shoulder, according to WSP.

Ruby was not wearing a seatbelt. WSP did not know if drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash.

He was declared dead at the scene.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
