Letter: Strength comes from wisdom

Everybody wants a strong leader to be president. That strength, however, does not come from insulting military heroes and Gold Star families, whipping up anger with dangerous rhetoric, posting pictures of tied-up presidents in the back of pickup trucks, bullying judges’ children, inciting an insurrection because you’re a poor loser, or incessantly spewing nonsense and lies.

Strength comes from wisdom, speaking when there is a need, having compassion for others, and having a love of country that far exceeds a love of oneself. The vote this year isn’t difficult when things are put in the proper perspective.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
