Letter: Good schools are a wise buy

By Louise Johns, Ridgefield
Published: April 13, 2024, 6:00am

As a former high school principal, I clearly see the necessity of more student space in Ridgefield schools. The problem is acute. Students see how we value their education by the facilities and teachers that we provide. Teacher salaries are not part of a bond issue. For superior schools we need to fund both good facilities and good teaching staff.

Ridgefield is growing. Children need quiet, space, supplies and a strong supportive environment. People who care about their community build good schools and staff them with superior people.

Good facilities and good communities draw superior people to teach. Ridgefield residents who care about property value will realize that no one who has choice will buy into a community with poor schools. Good school facilities are a wise buy.
