Letter: Trump poisons political discourse

By David Clark, Vancouver
Published: April 11, 2024, 6:00am

Donald Trump’s deviant brand of campaigning is often used to prey on his unstable followers. Employing vitriol against his detractors, he motivates his most unbalanced supporters to lash out at those same adversaries.

Intimidation and violence spawned by Trump’s political psychobabble has poisoned political discourse in this country for generations to come. Those same cascading symptoms are now manifesting around the globe. There are no easy answers to the challenges we face today. Suffice to say, projecting anger and isolation in any form take us in a direction that, history has shown us, is not a winning combination.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
