CAMAS — On March 19, East County Fire and Rescue presented unit citations to members of East County Fire and Rescue Engine 91 and Camas Washougal Fire Department Engine 43 for rescuing a trapped person from a house fire on Blair Road in February. The following personnel were recognized for their professionalism and excellent performance:

  • Engine 91: Capt. John Prasch, Firefighter Stephen Vera, Firefighter Zach Allen and Firefighter Ethan Gilbert.
  • Engine 43: Capt. Chris Kassel, Firefighter/Paramedic Michaela Young, Firefighter/Paramedic Eric Miller and Firefighter/Paramedic Rick Burnham.

The firefighters quickly stretched a hose line to control the fire, searched for, located and removed the occupant from the house under difficult conditions presented by a large amount of building contents and energized electrical wiring.
