Braeden Slamp’s 33-yard field goal with six seconds to play gave the Prairie Falcons a 36-33 win over Kelso in a 3A Greater St. Helens League game Friday at District Stadium in Battle Ground.
The Falcons (1-4, 1-0 3A GSHL) avoided its first 0-5 start in a non-COVID year since 2016.
Kelso (1-4, 0-1) had scored three straight touchdowns — one toward the end of the third quarter and two quick short-yardage runs in the fourth by Tucker Amrine — to take a 33-25 lead with 5:49 to play.
With 1:03 left to play, Prairie tied the game on a 31-yard touchdown pass from Isaac Watson to Alex Juhl. Pierson Lemah then ran in for the two-point conversion, reversing field from one side of the field to another to get in the end zone.
