Law enforcement in Idaho took two boys Vancouver police previously said had been abducted by their mother into protective custody Tuesday.
Kootenai County sheriff’s deputies contacted Joel Long, Angelina Hinson and her sons, Dexter, 7, and Braxton, 15, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, according to a Tuesday update from Vancouver police.
Vancouver police said the boys’ father had sole custody of them and that a protection order barred Angelina Hinson from having contact with them. The department asked for the public’s help locating the boys after she and her romantic partner took them from outside of school Sept. 15. The agency said the boys were considered missing persons.
The Vancouver Police Department said there was an ongoing investigation into the couple, who were suspected of kidnapping and custodial interference. The agency did not believe the children were in imminent danger.
Law enforcement in Idaho did not make any arrests, but Vancouver police said the investigation is ongoing.
