HOCKINSON – The Ridgefield Spudders dominated on both sides of the ball Friday night in a 42-7 win over the Hockinson Hawks in 2A Greater St. Helens League action at Hockinson High School.
The offense did its part, exploding for 28 points in the second quarter. Junior running back Cly Stephens scored two touchdowns in the quarter and senior Rocco Wright found the end zone once in that quarter and tallied another one in the third quarter.For the game, Wright, Stephens and senior quarterback Brayden Malella combined for 161 yards on the ground.
Malella also contributed on defense, putting Ridgefield (2-1 overall, 1-0 2A GSHL) on the board with an 85-yard fumble return for a touchdown in the first quarter. The Spudder defense forced four fumbles and held Hockinson to just one yard rushing for the entire game.
Hockinson (0-3, 0-1) did get on the scoreboard in the fourth quarter. Junior quarterback Aiden Donowitz found senior wide receiver Carter Cameron over the middle, and Cameron sprinted around the right side for a 20-yard touchdown. Cameron led all receivers with seven catches for 99 yards.
