Evergreen Public Schools has adjusted its district calendar to account for time lost as a result of a teacher strike amid stalled contract negotiations. The district needed to add seven additional instructional days to meet the state requirement of 180 days in the classroom.
The final day of the school year will be Friday, June 14. The original final day was June 12.
Three days that had been designated as snow makeup days — March 18, May 17 and June 13 — will now be regular instructional days. Those snow makeup days have been moved to the end of the school year — June 17, 18 and 20. June 19 is Juneteenth, a federal holiday.
The Thanksgiving and December holiday breaks have each been shortened, as well. Thanksgiving break will now be Thursday-Friday, Nov. 23-24. The December holiday break will begin a day later on Thursday, Dec. 21.
An online version of the full revised calendar is available on the district’s website here: www.evergreenps.org/calendars.
