Prep highlights: Ridgefield boys tennis gets two comeback wins for 5-1 team victory at Mark Morris

The Ridgefield boys tennis team improved to 2-0 in 2A Greater St. Helens League play with a 5-1 win over Mark Morris on Monday at Longview.

The Spudders needed two comeback victories at Nos. 2 and 3 singles to secure the team win.

Ridgefield’s Tommy Tomillo lost the first set at No. 2 singles to Vincent Flint in a tiebreaker but recovered for the 6-7 (9), 6-1, 6-4 win.

Then at No. 3 singles, Eli Miller came back from losing the first set to Zach Casanover to get a 2-6, 6-2, 6-2 victory.

Mark Morris’ Macro St. Martin-Shook won at No. 1 singles over Mccain Reed 6-2, 6-4.

Ridgefield swept the three doubles matches in straight sets.

  • Tim Rost and Kenny Ta, Fort Vancouver boys tennis, outlasted Sebastian Maher and Shay Bradley at No. 1 doubles for a 6-7 (1), 6-0, 7-6 (5) win to help the Trappers sweep the Eagles 6-0 in the 2A GSHL match.
  • William Goth, Evergreen boys tennis, beat Heritage’s Alex Vo in straight sets at No. 1 singles as the Plainsmen won the 3A GSHL match 5-1.
  • Adrianne Agbayani, Evergreen girls soccer, scored a goal and had two assists in a 4-1 non-league win at Adna.
  • Allison Smith, King’s Way Christian girls soccer, scored three goals in the Knights’ 9-0 win against Ilwaco.
  • Olivia Fauth, Stevenson volleyball, had 12 digs, six kills, two blocks and was 9 for 9 serving with two aces in the Bulldogs’ 3-1 non-league loss at Corbett, Ore.
  • Ellie Mathison, King’s Way Christian volleyball, recorded a double-double with 15 kills and 10 digs plus had two service aces as the Knights beat R.A. Long in five games.
