Clark County’s Parks and Lands division is seeking public comment on the Parks Capital Improvement Plan. The proposed six-year plan includes preventive maintenance projects, major maintenance projects and recreation enhancements at existing parks, and development of new parks. Projects in the plan address needs identified in the 2022 Parks, Recreation and Open Space Plan, which was created with input from the community and adopted by the Clark County Council in April 2022.
New projects and programs in the proposed Parks Capital Improvement Plan include: a bridge, pier and boat launch preservation program; recreation and access enhancements at Salmon Creek Regional Park; neighborhood park planning, design and development of Mount Vista property; Pleasant Valley Community Park design and phase II development; community park design and development of property known as Cougar Creek Woods and public access improvements at 78th Street Heritage Farm.
The parks advisory board will review the plan and public comments received at its Sept. 12 meeting in the Bud Van Cleve Community Room at the Luke Jensen Sports Park, 4000 N.E. 78th St. in Vancouver. Upon the board’s recommendation, staff will present the plan to the Clark County Council for final approval.
Residents can review the plan at clark.wa.gov/public-works/park-projects-and-funding. Comments about the plan can be submitted to pwparksprojects@clark.wa.gov.
Comments must be received by Sept. 30.
