A Ridgefield man who was considered missing since Aug. 24 was found dead Monday in rural Skamania County.

The Ridgefield Police Department had sought the public’s help locating Krieg Kjer, 46. The agency shared photos of Kjer’s Mercedes Sprinter van, which had noticeable custom features.

On Saturday, recreationists reported they found Kjer’s van near the U.S. Forest Service 25 Road. The Skamania County Sheriff’s Office began searching the area for Kjer but could not find him, according to a news release.

On Monday, Kjer’s family helped with the search, and they found him outside of investigators’ original search area, the news release states.

The sheriff’s office said Kjer’s cause of death has not been determined, but his manner of death does not appear suspicious.
