Camas, Skyview, Mountain View to start football postseason at home

State preliminary round matchups announced

Camas, Skyview and Mountain View will start their football postseason journeys at home.

With just one loss each, all three teams were granted home games by a seeding committee tasked with setting next weekend’s state preliminary-round pairings.

Sixteen preliminary-round winners in each classification will be re-seeded for the first-round of the state playoffs.

Class 4A Greater St. Helens League champion Camas will host Federal Way (3-6) at 7 p.m. Friday at Doc Harris Stadium.

The Papermakers are No. 3 in the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association’s RPI rankings. Federal Way (3-6) finished fourth in the North Puget Sound League and is ranked No. 36.

Skyview will face Bethel at 7 p.m. Friday at Kiggins Bowl. The Storm, which finished second in the 4A GSHL, are ranked No. 9. Bethel (4-5), finished sixth in the 10-team South Puget Sound League and is ranked No. 29.

Class 3A GSHL champion Mountain View will host Edmonds-Woodway (6-3) at 1 p.m. Saturday at McKenzie Stadium. The Thunder are ranked No. 9 in the 3A RPI rankings while Edmonds-Woodway, the second-place team in the Wesco South, is ranked No. 24.

Battle Ground, which earned the 4A GSHL’s third postseason berth, will travel to face Sumner on Friday at 7 p.m. The Tigers (7-2) are ranked No. 16 while Sumner (6-3) is ranked No. 21 after finishing fourth in the SPSL.

Other pairings are awaiting the results of two tiebreakers to be held Monday in Clark County.

Class 3A GSHL rivals Evergreen, Prairie and Kelso will play for one postseason berth at Doc Harris Stadium at 7 p.m. Whichever team survives will face No. 19 Garfield (5-3) at 3 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Stadium in Seattle.

Ridgefield, Hudson’s Bay and Washougal will decide the 2A GSHL’s second, third and fourth seeds in a tiebreaker moved Saturday to District Stadium in Battle Ground. Washougal won a coin flip and will receive a first-round bye for the 7 p.m. tiebreaker.

The No. 2 seed will host Evergreen Conference No. 3 Aberdeen (6-3). The No. 3 seed will travel to face EvCo No. 2 W.F. West (6-3). The No. 4 seed will face travel to Tumwater (9-0) to face the EvCo champ and undefeated Thunderbirds at 5 p.m. Saturday.

2A GSHL champion Woodland will host EvCo No. 4 Rochester (5-4) at 7 p.m. Friday.

Class 1A Trico League champ La Center (9-0) will face Elma (4-5) at 7 p.m. Friday. Trico runner-up Seton Catholic (8-1) will host its first postseason game against EvCo No. 3 Tenino (2-7) at 7 p.m. Friday.

Castle Rock (4-5) travels to face Eatonville (5-4) at 7 p.m. Thursday, and Stevenson (3-5) travels to face EvCo champ Montesano (9-0) at 7 p.m. Friday.

And Central 2B South Division champion Kalama (6-3) will host Pe Ell/Willapa Valley (5-4) or Rainier (6-3) at 4 p.m. Saturday.
