William Clark’s touchdown run in the fourth quarter gave Hudson’s Bay the lead, then Hayden Rapp’s late interception sealed the win as the Eagles beat Columbia River 14-10 on Friday.
With the win, Hudson’s Bay (7-2) secured a Week 10 district playoff berth. The Eagles will take part in a three-team tiebreaker with Ridgefield and Washougal at 7 p.m. Monday at Columbia River to determine seeding into the playoffs.
Chris Parkin got River off to a fast start by going 71 yards on a touchdown run on River’s first play from scrimmage. But Bay’s defense held River to just 127 yards of offense the rest of the game.
Rafael Bauman rushed for 101 yards and his 1-yard touchdown run in the second quarter tied the game 7-7 at halftime.
It stayed that way until Clark’s touchdown run early in the fourth quarter. River cut the deficit to 14-10 on Kaden Tschida’s 25-yard field goal with about six minutes left.
River got the ball back on offense on last time, but Rapp’s interception sealed the win for the Eagles.
The end of the game was marred by an on-field fight between the teams after several Bay players began to celebrate on the CR logo on the field.
