WASHOUGAL – Washougal overpowered Columbia River from the start, rolling to a 45-6 victory in a 2A Greater St. Helen’s League football game on Senior Night at Fishback Stadium.
The Panthers (6-2 overall, 4-2 2A GSHL) averaged nearly 10 yards per play in the first half, scoring touchdowns on their first four possessions in the rout.
Will Cooper ran for 148 yards and three touchdowns to lead Washougal to the victory, his second straight game with three scores. Panthers quarterback Holden Bea added 168 yards passing, 72 yards rushing and three touchdowns and Sam Evers had five catches for 95 yards receiving.
Columbia River (2-6, 2-4) struggled to move the ball consistently but got on the board late. Rapids freshman defensive back Zach Sims intercepted a fourth quarter pass and weaved his way 36 yards for a touchdown to avoid the shut out.
