Cly Stephens rushed for three touchdowns as the Ridgefield Spudders overcame a slow start to beat R.A. Long 35-0 on Friday at Longview Memorial Stadium.
Stephens’ 6-yard touchdown run in the final minute of the second quarter gave Ridgefield a 7-0 lead at halftime.
But the Spudder defense gave Ridgefield short fields in the third quarter, allowing the Spudders to pull away.
After Stephens’ 33-yard touchdown put Ridgefield up 14-0 in the third quarter, Colt Couch came up with an interception for Ridgefield.
On the ensuing play, Brayden Malella hits Landon DeBeaumont on a 34-yard touchdown pass to put the Spudders up 21-0.
Ridgefield (6-2, 5-1 in the 2A GSHL) clinched a playoff berth with the win and will host Woodland next Friday in a game that will decide the league championship.
