Prep highlights: Skyview soccer beats Camas to tighten 4A GSHL race

Skyview girls soccer beat Camas 2-0 on Thursday, handing the Papermakers their first league loss and tightening the 4A Greater St. Helens League race.

Piper Cameron scored on a penalty kick in the first half. Brynnlee Williams added a second-half insurance goal when she converted a penalty kick.

Storm goalkeeper Sam Groesbeck made seven saves to earn the shutout.

Camas still sits atop the league standings at 3-1-0 (9 points) with two matches to play.

Union, which beat Battle Ground 2-0 on Thursday pulled within two points a 2-1-1. Skyview has six points at 2-2-0

  • Maeve Norton, Washougal girls soccer, had four saves in goal as the Panthers beat Mark Morris in a penalty shootout.
  • Shaylie Haij, King’s Way Christian girls soccer, scored two goals in a 4-0 win over Fort Vancouver.
  • Natalie Weinmaster, Fort Vancouver girls soccer, the goalkeeper made 17 saves in a 4-0 loss to King’s Way Christian.
  • Katelyn Michaud, Union girls soccer, scored both goals in a 2-0 win over Battle Ground.
  • Gracie Jacoby, Prairie volleyball, had a team-high 11 kills and nine digs as the Falcons swept Union.
  • Olivia Fauth, Stevenson volleyball, had a double-double with 17 kills and 14 digs in the Bulldogs’ 3-1 win over Columbia of White Salmon.
  • Macey McCoy, Columbia River girls volleyball, assisted on 37 of the Rapids 75 points in a sweep of R.A. Long.
  • Kendall Mairs, Camas volleyball, had a double-double with 11 digs and 11 assists plus eight kills in the Papermakers 3-0 win at Mountain View.
  • Lizzy Andrew, Ridgefield volleyball, led the Spudders with 14 kills and also had four blocks in a 3-0 win over Woodland.
  • Jordis Taylor, Heritage volleyball, had 27 kills as the Timberwolves beat Centralia 3-2 with Heritage winning the fifth-set tiebreaker 16-14.
