Nominees for Week 7 High School Football Player of the Week

Voting open until 7 p.m. Wednesday

Here are the nominees for The Columbian 2023 Week 7 high school football player of the week.

Winners of the athlete-of-the-week may not be nominated again during the regular season, and no athlete may be nominated in consecutive weeks.

Nominees are posted and voting begins each Monday and runs through 7 p.m. Wednesday.

To avoid vote manipulation, each unique IP address is limited to one vote per day.

Here are the nominees:

Elijah Andersen, Woodland

The junior rushed for 233 yards and five touchdowns, including scores of 54, 48 and 44 yards, to help the Beavers beat Hudson’s Bay 41-10 and remained tied for first place in the 2A Greater St. Helens League standings.

Cash Cook, Mountain View

The senior quarterback threw for 231 yards, three touchdowns and scored the game-winning 4-yard rushing touchdown in overtime as the Thunder prevailed for a 35-34 win at Kelso.

Grayson Gambee, Battle Ground

The senior receiver led the Tigers with 121 yards on 11 catches and two touchdowns in the Tigers’ 48-30 win over Union to open 4A GSHL play.

Cly Stephens, Ridgefield

The junior running back shouldered the Spudders’ rushing attack with 283 yards on 35 carries and one touchdown as part of a 27-12 road win over Columbia River.

Andon Stenersen, Hockinson

The senior quarterback passed for 253 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for 48 yards and one touchdown in the Hawks’ 28-21 win over Mark Morris.
