The Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office identified a 26-year-old woman as the person who was found dead Oct. 6 near train tracks in downtown Vancouver.

Brittany Niverson, unknown city of residence, died from multiple blunt force injuries. Her manner of death, whether an accident, suicide or homicide, was undetermined, but the medical examiner’s office said she’d been struck by a train.

Vancouver police responded at 8:23 p.m. to the BNSF tracks near Esther and Cascade streets for a report of a dead person near the tracks. An engineer saw the woman and stopped rail traffic while he reported the incident. Police spokeswoman Kim Kapp previously said Niverson was not struck by that train.

The department’s Major Crimes Unit is investigating.
