RIDGEFIELD — Ridgefield turned three turnovers into three first-quarter touchdowns and never looked back in a 42-0 rout of the Mark Morris in a 2A Greater St. Helens League game Friday.
On the third play from scrimmage, Brayden Malella intercepted a pass and then threw a 44-yard touchdown to Noah Stromberg on the very next play.
On the next play, Ridgefield recovered a Mark Morris fumble at the Monarch 29, and Malella hit Stromberg again for a touchdown pass on the very next play. The pair have combined for five touchdowns in the last two games.
The opportunistic Spudders (3-1 in league play, 4-2 overall) forced and recovered another Mark Morris fumble later in the quarter, and four plays later Malella snuck in from one yard out to make it 21-0.
