Fort Vancouver boys basketball nailed 11 3-pointers in a 68-60 season-opening home win over Heritage on Wednesday.
Liam Cvitkovich led the Trappers with 17 points. Fort Vancouver made five 3-pointers in the third quarter, outscoring Heritage 26-14 to take a 55-35 lead.
Eight Fort players hit at least one 3-pointer. Bernardo Castro hit three 3-pointers and finished with 11 points.
Jayve Gallant scored 21 points and Jo Osburn added 18 points for Heritage (0-2). They combined for 16 of the Timberwolves’ points in the fourth quarter as Heritage outscored Fort Vancouver 25-13.
Girls basketball
UNION 73, COLUMBIA RIVER 24 — Rowyn Riley scored 25 points, making six 3-pointers, as the Titans opened their season with a commanding home win.
Brooklyn Haywood added 16 points and Ava Smith chipped in 11 points for Union (1-0).
EVERGREEN 44, KING’S WAY CHRISTIAN 30 — Adrian Wright scored 12 of her game-high 15 points in the third quarter as the Plainsmen rebounded from a season-opening loss.
One day after dropping a 3A Greater St. Helens League game to Mountain View, the defending league champs burst to a 14-4 lead in Wednesday’s non-league game.
Leading 19-13 at halftime, Evergreen took charge by outscoring the host Knights 18-8 in the third quarter.
Bridget Quinn scored 10 points to lead King’s Way (0-1).
LA CENTER 53, FORT VANCOUVER 19 — Paige Sherry scored 15 points, McKenzie Schockelt added 11 points and the Wildcats cruised to a season-opening home win.
April Cruz scored eight points to lead Fort Vancouver (0-1).
