Letter: Stop the carnage

Truth leads to justice and peace. As a veteran, I learned early that conflicts will be resolved when dialogue with truth is combined.

It is time to bring peace with justice to Israel/Palestine. The president and a majority in Congress know the truth and what is required for peace. They also should know, and I quote U.S. Rep. Becca Balint, D-Vt., who stated in a recent op-ed: “… that killing civilians, and killing children, is an abomination and categorically unacceptable – no matter who the civilians are, and no matter who the children are.” Further, she states: “I want Vermonters to know that I am using the influence and power of my position to bring an end to this horrific violence and suffering.”

Rep. Balint is a courageous Jewish American. She speaks truth to a shameless majority in Congress and to President Joe Biden who are suppressing truth and flaming the conflict by providing arms and blocking cease-fire resolutions.

Shame on Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, D-Skamania, for suppressing debate and for refusing to join those calling for a cease-fire. Shame on Secretary of State Antony Blinken, our lead diplomat, begging Congress for more war money. Shame on Sens. Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell whose silence enables the carnage.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
