Letter: Sidewalks not necessary

By John Molenaar, Vancouver
Published: November 23, 2023, 6:00am

How many potholes could have been filled (“Government needs to focus eyes on the road,” In Our View, Nov. 14) if only one of the two-mile sidewalks (to nowhere) on First Street starting at 164th Avenue was built. Instead of on both sides, why at all? I never seen anyone using it, I drive by two times a day.

You should see the traffic backup on 18th Street going to 164th Avenue between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. It can stretch back to Evergreen High School. Now there is real work to be done.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
