Kayden Mozingo rushes for 451 yards, five touchdowns as Onalaska beat Kalama 60-40 in 2B state football quarterfinal

Kayden Mozingo rushed for 451 yards and five touchdowns as the Onalaska ground attack could not be stopped in a 60-40 win over Kalama in a Class 2B state quarterfinal football game Friday in Tenino.

Aided by two interceptions thrown by Kalama, the Loggers broke the game open with a 32-point third quarter.

Kalama’s defense played well early, holding Onalaska to one first down on its first three possessions as the Chinooks built a 12-0 lead in the second quarter.

Mozingo’s 71-yard touchdown run got Onalaska on the board. Kalama would later answer to take a 20-14 lead into halftime.

The Chinooks took the second-half kick and drove downfield to take 26-14 lead on Aiden Brown’s fourth touchdown run of the game.

Mozingo answered with a 74-yard touchdown run on Onalaska’s next play from offense.

The Loggers then got an interception to open Kalama’s next possession, and Mozingo’s 53-yard touchdown run on the next play put Onalaska ahead 30-26.

Onalaska got another interception two plays later, and Rodrigo Rodriguez’s 36-yard touchdown run put the Loggers ahead 38-26.

Mozingo would rush for 309 yards in the second half as the Loggers gained 621 yards of offense, all on the ground, preventing a Kalama comeback.

Brown completed 23 of 50 passes for 362 yards and two touchdowns, and Ethan Brightbill caught 10 passes for 211 yards for the Chinooks, who saw their season end at 8-4.
