Second-half surge lifts Kennewick past Mountain View in 3A state playoffs

Thunder’s season ends at 9-2

Kennewick began the third quarter with a kickoff return for a touchdown to take the lead for good in a 27-12 victory over Mountain View in the teams’ Class 3A first-round state playoff football game Saturday at Lampson Stadium. 

Cooper Neer’s kickoff return gave the Lions a 9-6 lead seconds into the third quarter after the Thunder held a 6-3 halftime advantage. After taking their 9-6 lead, Kennewick outscored Mountain View 18-6 the rest of the way. 

The Thunder, champions of the 3A Greater St. Helens League, end their season at 9-2.
