Prep roundup: La Center beats Cashmere to advance to girls soccer 1A state semifinals

Shaela Bradley scored the lone goal of the match in the first half and the defense made it stand up as the La Center girls soccer team clinched its first berth in the Class 1A state semifinals with a 1-0 win Saturday at Cashmere.

Sophia Johnson recorded six saves in goal for the Wildcats, who will meet top-seeded Klahowya of Silverdale at 7 p.m. Friday at Mt. Tahoma High School in Tacoma.

EAST VALLEY-YAKIMA 5, HOCKINSON 0 — The Hawks’ successful postseason run came to an end in a Class 2A quarterfinal match in Yakima.

Volleyball

Camas places second at 4A bi-district — The Papermakers reached the championship match of the District 3/4 bi-district tournament in Kent, falling to Olympia in four sets on Saturday at Kentwood High School. Both teams secured state berths at next weekend’s Class 4A state tournament in Yakima by reaching the bi-district semifinals, where Camas topped Curtis, 3-0, earlier on Saturday.

Union’s season ended Saturday in a loser-out match to South Kitsap, falling in five sets. Skyview’s season ended in a loser-out match Friday to Emerald Ridge, 3-0.

Prairie takes third at 3A bi-district — Prairie took home third place in the 3A bi-district tournament in Olympia with a 3-2 win over 3A Greater St. Helens League rival Mountain View on Saturday.

Both teams secured berths in next week’s 3A state tournament in Yakima by advancing to the bi-district semifinals on Friday.

In the semifinals, Mountain View fell to Gig Harbor 3-0, while Prairie lost to North Thurston 3-0.

Both teams will learn their state pairings when brackets are released on Sunday.
