CHELAN — A 34-year-old man was arrested Thursday on suspicion of robbing a bank in Chelan.
Investigators say Michael F. Koehnen walked into a WaFd Bank at approximately 10 a.m. holding a hand-sized electronic part and told the teller he wanted money. When she asked for his account information, he replied, “This is a robbery,” according to a news release from the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office.
After receiving an undisclosed sum from the teller, Koehnen fled on foot, the release said.
The sheriff’s office received information to identify Koehnen as the suspect. Deputies obtained a search warrant, and he was arrested in a home on the 400 block of East Woodin Avenue in Chelan. In the search, deputies found what they believe was the stolen money and the clothes he was wearing at the bank.
Koehnen is being held at the Chelan County Regional Justice Center.
