Weather Eye: We’ve seen the last of the 80s for the next few days

What a beautiful Saturday it was for the big parade in Hazel Dell. Perfect forecast, perfect weather and a great time by all, I’m sure. I have said it for years: If you have any outdoor plans, look up the date for the parade and do it! It hardly ever rains on that parade.

Saturday’s high in the low 80s will be our last 80-degree day for a while as cooler marine air filters into the western valleys. Expect morning clouds, maybe some mist or drizzle here and there through Tuesday. We should top out right around 70 degrees, which is our average high for these days. If clouds linger, we may be shy of 70 degrees. All in all, it’s a reprieve from the heat.

The weather warms up Wednesday through Friday, with highs of 75 to 82 degrees — pleasant in anyone’s book.

Of course, we have the three-day Memorial Day weekend looming. What will the weather be? Right now, I would say plenty of clouds, slight chance of a shower, highs of 65 to 72 degrees. Basically, a somewhat cool and cloudy holiday. That is still a way out, so it could fare better than what I shared. We’ll chat about it further this week, so come back and see me Tuesday and Thursday.

Let’s review rainfall for April from our friends and neighbors around the area: Bob Starr, Cougar, 15.67 inches; Jim Knoll, Five Corners, 7.99 inches; Robin Ruzek, Lakeshore, 5.51 inches; Chuck Houghten, Hockinson Heights, 9.15 inches; Tyler Mode, Battle Ground, 7.16 inches; Bob Mode, Minnehaha, 4.80 inches; Irv St. Germain, Prune Hill, 7.01 inches; Dick Lenahan, Meadow Glade, 5.85 inches; Dave Campbell, Amboy, 7.88 inches; Murphy Dennis, Rawson Road, 9.49 inches; Bill Sobolewski, Livingston Mountain, 8.33 inches; Ellen Smart, Ridgefield, 9.60 inches; Phil Delany, above Dole Valley, 12.90 inches; and Judy Weber, near View, 8.73 inches. Our friend Roland Derksen in Vancouver, B.C., reported 7.32 inches. The official rainfall for Vancouver, USA, was 5.18 inches, 2.25 inches above average once again.

Enjoy the cooler weather, and we will chat on Tuesday.
