The storied pancake breakfast known for kicking off the Clark County Fair is no more, fair leaders announced Friday.
The event’s sponsor, Fred Meyer, said that this year the company will instead be presenting a check for $10,000 to the Clark County Food Bank. The check will be presented at 9:30 a.m. on Aug. 4, the fair’s opening day.
The grocer will also be sponsoring free opening day admission. Those wanting free fair admission, however, will need to pick up an admission coupon at select Fred Meyer stores beforehand. Coupons will be available, while supplies last, from July 5 to Aug. 3. The free coupons will be required for entry and entry will have to be made between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Aug. 4.
The fair and Fred Meyer will also be providing donation barrels at each gate on opening day, with donations going to benefit the Clark County Food Bank.
