The Camas baseball team recovered quickly after a one-run loss on Tuesday by steamrolling Bellarmine Prep 8-1 on Wednesday in the 4A bi-district tournament and keeping its season alive.

A seven-run fourth inning put the game out of reach.

Aaron Sung grounded into a fielder’s choice to bring home the Papermakers’ first run and tie the game at 1-1. Diego Trujillo hit a sacrifice fly to score the go-ahead run.

The Papermakers then strung together a two-run double by Matthew Manjooran, an RBI single by Jake Swenson, a run-scoring double by Holt Williams, and an RBI single by Max Fraser — all with two outs — to make it 8-1.

Bellarmine did load the bases with no outs in the seventh, but Ryan McClaskey came on in relief for Camas and retired the side on two strikeouts and a ground out.

Camas will play Kennedy Catholic in a winner-to-state game Saturday at Heritage Field.

KENNEDY CATHOLIC 5, UNION 4, 8 INNINGS — Kennedy Catholic’s Peter Hollabaugh hit a two-out grand slam in the bottom of the eighth inning to end the Titans’ season.

Union broke a 1-1 tie in the top of the eighth with a two-run single by Dylan Richardson and a hit by Ty Sutton.

3A bi-district baseball

PRAIRIE 5, AUBURN 3 — The Falcons were able to hold off Auburn’s seventh-inning rally to advance, where they will play 3A GSHL rival Kelso in a winner-to-state game on Saturday.

Prairie led 5-0 going into the seventh. The Falcons scored three runs in the first inning, the first coming in on a double play and two more and Brayden Petrowski’s base hit.

Two bases-loaded walks brought in two more runs in the fifth inning.

Auburn made two quick outs in the seventh before three hits and an error helped to bring in its three runs. Prairie ended the rally and the game with a fly out.

Kelso was a 10-1 winner over Capital.
