Prep Roundup: La Center baseball advances to district semis

Tyler Normine went 3 for 3, Smith Stimmel drove in four runs and La Center cruised past Eatonville 19-1 in the first round of the 1A District 4 baseball tournament on Monday.

The Wildcats’ win at Castle Rock High sets up a semifinal showdown against Tenino on Tuesday. The winner clinches a state tournament berth.

Trico League champion La Center took charge with nine runs in the second inning. Both Normine and Alex Mora had three RBI.

ELMA 7, SETON CATHOLIC 2, 8 innings — The Eagles erupted for five runs in the eighth inning, sending the Cougars into a loser-out game on Tuesday.

TENINO 10, KING’S WAY CHRISTIAN 6 — Brayden Disbrow had four hits and Justin Wu went 3 for 4 but the Knights couldn’t keep pace.

King’s Way led 5-2 after the top of the fourth. But Tenino plated three in the bottom of the fourth and five in the fifth.

King’s Way will face Eatonville in a loser-out game.

Stars of the day

  • Maddie Milhorn, Skyview softball, homered twice, going 2 for 2 with five RBI in a 12-2 win over Camas.
  • Rylee Rehbein, Battle Ground softball, had 14 strikeouts and allowed just one hit over six innings in a 12-0 win over Union.
  • Jadyn Terry, R.A. Long softball, had 19 strikeouts and allowed one hit in a 4-0 win over Columbia River. She also hit a two-run double.
  • McKayla Ferguson, Ridgefield softball, went 2 for 3 with a home run and five RBI in a 16-0 win over Fort Vancouver.
  • Gabi Silveria, Woodland softball, went 3 for 4 with a home run, a triple and four RBI in a 20-1 win over Hudson’s Bay.
  • Jadyn Terry, R.A. Long softball, had 19 strikeouts and allowed just one hit in a 4-0 win over Columbia River. She also hit a two-run double.
  • Cayleigh White and Lillie Stroup, Heritage softball, each went 3 for 3 and combined for five RBI in a 17-1 win over Mountain View.
