Prep highlights: Hammergren’s game-winning hits lifts Mark Morris baseball over Hudson’s Bay

Mark Morris earns the No. 3 seed to district tournament

Stephen Hammergren singled home the winning run with two outs in the bottom of the seventh, lifting the Mark Morris baseball team to a 3-2 over Hudson’s Bay that gave the Monarchs the No. 3 seed to the 2A district tournament.

Mark Morris tied with Columbia River for second place in the 2A Greater St. Helens League at 12-4. However, River’s one win against first-place Ridgefield gave the Rapids the No. 2 seed, assuring River a home game against Rochester to open the district tournament on Tuesday.

The Monarchs are the No. 3 seed and will play at W.F. West to open district on Tuesday.

Hudson’s Bay (11-5) is the No. 4 seed and will play at Tumwater on Tuesday.

Hockinson plays at Shelton in a district play-in game at 1 p.m. Saturday. The winner plays at Ridgefield (13-3), the league champion, on Tuesday.

Stars of the day

Mackenzie Moore, Prairie softball, went 3 for 5 with two runs, a home run and three RBI in a 12-9 win over Ridgefield.

Ruby Lew and Haylee Delano, Columbia River softball, combined on a five-inning perfect game with six strikeouts in an 11-0 win over Hudson’s Bay.

Trent Blatnik, Woodland baseball, went 1 for 3, including the go-ahead two-run double in a 2-1 win over Fort Vancouver.

Nathaniel Olmos, Washougal baseball, hit a grand slam in an 11-1 win over R.A. Long.

Justin Wu, King’s Way Christian baseball, went 2 for 3 with a triple and three RBI in a 7-4 win over Columbia-White Salmon

Braeden Bellus, Hockinson baseball, allowed no earned runs over seven innings and drove in a run in a 7-1 win over Ridgefield.

Penelope Tyler, Woodland softball, went 2 for 2 with three runs, two doubles and two RBI in an 12-1 win over Hockinson.

Cayden Husley-Bible, Stevenson softball, went 2 for 3 with a run and a doubles as the Bulldogs scored eight runs in the sixth to rally for an 11-9 win over Seton Catholic.

Davari Grauer, La Center boys track and field, won the 100 meters (10.95 seconds) and 200 (22.41) at the Spudder Invite.

Shaela Bradley, La Center girls track and field, won the 100 meters (11.9 seconds) and 400 (58.79) at the Spudder Invite.
