Scott Thompson of Camas High School was selected as the Class 4A state coach of the year by the Washington State Girls Basketball Coaches Association.
Thompson led the Papermakers to a 24-4 season and a runner-up finish at the 4A state tournament. Camas also won the 4A Greater St. Helens League title and the first bi-district championship in school history.
Eastlake’s Sara Goldie was honored as the WSGCA state coach of the year for all classifications after leading the Wolves to the 4A state title with a 48-41 win over Camas.
Arlington’s Jenna Villa was selected as Ms. Basketball, the state’s player of the year for all classifications. Also honored as players of the year were Ava Schmidt of Eastlake (4A), Claire O’Connor of Lakeside (3A), Rylee Leishman of Ellensburg (2A), Kayanna “KK” Bass of Wapato (1A), Jaisha Gibb of Colfax (2B) and Lauren Katyrniuk of Naselle (2B).
Seton Catholic’s Anna Mooney and Keira Williams were picked for the Class 1A senior all-state team. Isabella Merzoian of Mark Morris made the 2B senior all-state team.
