Yanni Fassilis of Union selected for Washington-Oregon high school basketball all-star game

The WAVOR All-Star Game, formerly Northwest Shootout, will be played April 2 in Hillsboro

Yanni Fassilis of Union and Kobe Parlin of Mark Morris will represent Washington in the 27th annual WAVOR (Washington vs. Oregon) All-Star high school basketball game on April 2 in Hillsboro, Ore.

The WAVOR All-Star game was formerly known as the Northwest Shootout and features some of the top high school senior basketball players in both states. The game will tip off at 3 p.m. at Liberty High School.

Fassilis was The Columbian’s All-Region player of the year, averaging nearly 25 points game while setting a Union team record in steals, and helping the Titans advance to the 4A state tournament for an eighth consecutive year.

Parlin was the 2A Greater St. Helens League co-player of the year, leading the Monarchs to a runner-up finish at the 2A state tournament.

Also on the Washington team were Tyce Paulsen of Curtis, Parker Gerrits of Olympia, Kelson Gebbers of Brewster, Tennessee Rainwater of Davenport, Vaughn Weems of Federal Way, Maverick Sanders of Mt. Spokane, Mason Williams of O’Dea and Brooklyn Hicks of Timberline.
