Rylee Rehbein of Battle Ground softball is The Columbian 2022-23 Week 21 prep athlete of the week

Senior received 327 of 929 votes to win the honor

Riley Rehbein of Battle Ground softball is The Columbian 2022-23 Week 21 high school athlete of the week, presented by Heavy Metal Pizza.

Rehbein received 327 of the 929 votes cast this week to win the honor.

The senior struck out 42 over 20 innings, allowing two earned runs, and went 5 for 10 with a home run and three RBI for the Tigers last week.

Winners of the athlete-of-the-week may not be nominated again during the regular season, and no athlete may be nominated in consecutive weeks. Nominees are posted and voting begins each Monday and runs through Wednesday.

Here are the accomplishments of the other nominees:

GRACIE BUZZELL, CAMAS GIRLS TRACK AND FIELD: The senior ran the state’s best time last week in the 3,200 meters, winning in 11 minutes, 38.33 seconds.

CHANZ FLORES, HUDSON’S BAY BASEBALL: The junior stuck out 11 over 10.2 innings with two earned runs and went 5 for 11 with two RBI in three wins for the Eagles.

ALEX HARRIS, COLUMBIA RIVER BOYS SOCCER: The senior scored nine goals and added three assists in three league wins for the Rapids.

BRANDON NGUYEN, RIDGEFIELD BOYS TRACK AND FIELD: The sophomore won the 200 meters (23.46) and 400 meters (52.59) at the Lewis River Jamboree.
