Journalist sees echo of Solidarity movement in Ukrainian resistance

In her new book, retired journalist Sonya Zalubowski of Vancouver recounts her time in an Eastern European nation struggling to break free of Russia’s orbit — not present-day Ukraine, but Poland in the 1980s.

Poland shares a 330-mile border with Ukraine, and since its neighbor was invaded by Russia a year ago, has served as the gateway for weapons and supplies from the West.
