Despite a valiant effort by Cavin Holden, the R.A. Long boys basketball team saw its season end in a 57-55 loss to North Kitsap in a fourth-place semifinal at the 2A state tournament in Yakima.
R.A. Long shot 25 percent from the field in the first half and trailed 27-21 at halftime.
North Kitsap took a 39-34 lead into the fourth quarter. The Lumberjacks got within one over a couple of occassions in the final period, the last time at 50-49 with about two minutes to play.
But the Lumberjacks never took the lead down the stretch.
Holden finished with a game-high 34 points, eight rebounds and four assists. Landon Irwin added nine points.
