A Vancouver man was arrested early Friday morning following a reported burglary and brief standoff at an auto shop in Hazel Dell.
At about 12:35 a.m., a 911 caller reported seeing a man inside the gated area at Caliber Collision, 7631 N.E. Highway 99. The caller said it appeared the man was trying to access vehicles stored inside the fenced area, according to a Clark County Sheriff’s Office news release.
Deputies responded, and the man ran. Law enforcement surrounded the area, and a small Unmanned Aircraft System and police K-9 were deployed to track him through the fenced lot. He was eventually found inside the cab of a box truck, the sheriff’s office said.
The man refused to exit the truck, deputies said, and a standoff ensued for about 20 minutes. He then surrendered without incident.
Cole Shielly, 31, was booked into the Clark County Jail on suspicion of second-degree burglary and an outstanding warrant.
