I am so glad as a weatherman that I have entered the spring season — meteorologically speaking, of course. It is nice to place the winter records away and look forward to brighter days and, of course, some sunshine and opportunities to hang my winter jacket in the hall closet.
However, astronomically it is still winter, and the weather will continue to behave like it. We have a winter weather advisory in Clark County until 1 p.m. today; it was issued late Wednesday afternoon. This is for sticking snow above 700 feet. Not much, but snowflakes will be appearing around the county.
I’m looking over forecast models all the way through the middle of next week, and I can see where snow could continue to fall off and on at low elevations, mainly between 500 and 1,500 feet. That means our foothill locations will continue to build a snowpack despite some daytime melting.
Is this the way March wants to behave? I think it qualifies as coming in like a lamb, because we didn’t have rain or snow falling or gusty winds Wednesday. Fog doesn’t count. So, does that mean according to old weather lore that March 31 will go out like a lion? I’ll leave that one up to you.
