Columbia River High alum and University of Washington pitcher Sawyer Parkin had a gem of a night for the Ridgefield Raptors on Friday.

Parkin pitched six shut out innings, allowing just two hits as the Raptors beat the Springfield Drifters 6-0 and keep hold of the top spot in the West Coast League’s South Division.

Parkin (2-0) struck out three batters and walked one as he combined with Nate Wenzel (two innings) and Ross Goldschlag (one inning) for the shutout at Hamlin Sports Complex.

The Raptors (17-7) needed just 2 hours and 5 minutes to win the first game of a three-game set on the road.

Ridgefield scored two runs in the second inning on Cole Sheehan’s single and added four in the eighth to put the game away.

Corey Nunez drew a bases-load walk for the first run of the eighth, Reiss Calvin hit a two-out, two-run single, and Jake Tsukada’s hit helped bring in the final run thanks to an error.

Andy Allanson went 2 for 4 with a run scored, and Sheehan was 2 for 3 with his two RBI.

The series continues Saturday (6:35 p.m. first pitch) and Sunday (1:05 p.m.) at Springfield.

BOXSCORE: RAPTORS 6, DRIFTERS 0
