A motorcyclist was killed Thursday morning after colliding with a pickup that turned into his path in the Orchards area, according to the Vancouver Police Department.
Police responded at about 6:55 a.m. to the collision in the 10400 block of Northeast Fourth Plain Boulevard. The investigation indicates the motorcycle was traveling west on Fourth Plain and a Ford F-150 was traveling east. The pickup turned left into a parking lot, police said, and the driver did not see the motorcycle before beginning to turn.
The motorcycle struck the front passenger’s side of the pickup. The rider was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a police news release.
Authorities have not released the identities of those involved.
Investigators said they believe the motorcycle was traveling an estimated 30 mph over the speed limit, and excessive speed is a causing factor in the crash.
