Summer arrived Wednesday along with typical sunny skies and pleasant afternoon temperatures in the 70s. That is what we could call “normal” with sunshine and afternoon temperatures in the mid-70s right where they should be. A picture perfect summer day.
Summer weather will continue until further notice with highs jumping into the 80s today and variable into early next week, hovering between the upper 70s and low 80s. Yep, it is a broad-brush type of forecast. Some passing clouds at times but plenty of blue skies and sunshine. Winds may be offshore today from the east and then back to north or northwest through the weekend.
No rain is in sight, and it is highly possible the remainder of June will be dry. The only caveat is a couple of weak fronts will move through early next week and there is a risk of sprinkles or a light shower but for now, I keep it dry. Officially here in Vancouver, the rain gauge for the month remains at 0.78 of an inch and in another day or two, we can say we have only received half of what would be the average for the month. Yes, the official gauge in Vancouver missed much of that heavy thunderstorm activity Sunday. The Portland airport had nearly an inch of rain on that day compared to a tad under a half-inch for Pearson Field.
Although the Cascades had passing clouds Wednesday, looking east from Vancouver you could get a glimpse of Mount Hood with some bright clean snow on upper slopes.
