Southwest Washington bike, pedestrian projects get funding

The Regional Transportation Council Board of Directors selected eight bike and pedestrian projects to receive $3.1 million in federal transportation alternatives funding at its meeting Tuesday.

All of the projects expand travel choices, improve the travel experience, and enhance mobility and safety. The projects are located in Clark, Skamania and Klickitat counties.

  • Bingen — Alder and Cedar streets sidewalks, $100,000 (design);
  • Clark County — Highway 99 sidewalk, $105,000 (construction);
  • La Center — Pacific Highway shared-use path, $700,000 (construction);
  • Stevenson — First Street pedestrian amenities and overlook, $663,000 (construction);
  • Vancouver — Garrison Road sidewalk infill, $350,000 (construction);
  • Vancouver — Hazel Dell/Burnt Bridge Creek Trail crossing, $300,000 (design and construction);
  • Washougal — South 27th Street shared-use path, $816,250 (right-of-way and construction);
  • White Salmon — Bluff Pedestrian Connector Trail, $74,170 (design).
